Basics Plus
Our experience has taught us that many elementary students are not mastering key language arts and math skills.
These skills are essential to future academic success.
In response, we have developed a special program called Basics Plus. This program is designed to supplement the education children are receiving in school. Its purpose is to ensure that students are learning and retaining the basic facts and skills they need as the foundation for their future studies.
Students enrolled in Basics Plus come to our Center up to 4 times a week for guided practice in their basic language arts and/or math skills.
Our Basics Plus program specifically provides:
- expert, dedicated tracking of a student's proficiency in language arts and/or math skills
- guided practice in mastering key skills directed by our tutoring staff
Our Basics Plus language arts program encompasses grammar, word usage, vocabulary, and spelling. The Basics Plus math program addresses basic computational (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and arithmetical (such as fractions, decimals, proportions, percentages) skills.
Standard hours for Basics Plus are Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-7:00pm.
Basics Plus is intended for students in elementary school. For middle school and high school students who need help with basic skills, we have a separate, comparable tutoring and directed study program.
We develop and implement an individual Basics Plus plan for each student. The first step in enrollment for each student is an initial free consultation with our tutoring staff, during which the student's needs and goals are assessed and addressed. Many of our students come more than once a week and our fee structure (available on request) is designed to encourage and support multiple sessions. For students needing additional assistance, we also can combine Basics Plus with our tutoring and/or Homework Plus programs.
